COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Tulsa ministry is reviving its long-held Christmas toy drive to support families and honor a promise made generations ago. The decades-long tradition brings holiday cheer to local households.  FOX 23
  • Food on the Move and Girl Scouts Beyond Bars have partnered for 10 years to support girls with incarcerated parents during the holidays by providing family dinners, gifts, and resource tables at Food on the Move in Tulsa.  FOX 23
  • Local artist Michael Thomas is selling his paintings at SheBrews Coffee Shop on S. Lewis Ave. to raise funds for Christmas presents for children of women rebuilding their lives. The fundraiser is open during business hours.  2 News
  • Tulsa restaurants are offering holiday meals for local residents this season, with several eateries joining a community effort to serve warm meals during the holidays.  FOX 23
  • Sapulpa officials broke ground at the Booker T. Washington Rec Center after voters approved an $8.5 million bond in 2020. The center will add a second gym, walking track, and extra space for programs and is scheduled to reopen with a ribbon cutting next year.  2 News

  • Tulsa-born singer-songwriter Zeke Duhon returns home to perform an acoustic set at Philbrook Museum of Art’s Festival of Lights on Dec. 26 (5:30–8:30 p.m.), offering a mix of holiday covers and original songs.  News On 6
  • The Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum in Sapulpa has received a $1.08 million state grant to expand its facility with an extra 5,000 sqft exhibit area+ 2,000 sqft plaza. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for January, and the expansion will open in fall 2026.  News On 6
  • A Jenks homeowner has spent 15 years creating Kringle's Christmas Land, a free, vintage holiday wonderland featuring Santa’s workshop (and life-size reindeer) that is open every night from 6 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31. Families from the area visit to enjoy the nostalgic scenes and festive displays.  News On 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma wildlife officials activated the chronic wasting disease response plan after a white-tailed deer tested positive four miles from the state line. The agency is treating the case as if it occurred in Oklahoma (to help protect deer populations, hunters and landowners) and will keep monitoring the situation.  KTUL
  • Tulsa officials remind residents to recycle by placing cardboard, paper and select containers in the blue cart and discarding foil, glitter and artificial trees with the gray trash. Live Christmas trees may be left curbside on trash days or dropped off at the city mulch site in December and January.  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Cherokee Nation announced new specialty license plates honoring individual military branches—these designs were revealed during the Cherokee Veterans Christmas Gathering and will be available in 2026 when eligible Cherokee citizens renew their registration at local Tag Offices across the reservation and for at-large residents.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Rebekah Hartfield warns Tulsa pet owners about histoplasmosis, a fungal infection cats can get from inhaling spores in soil, bird droppings, or bat droppings. She advises quick vet visits if pets show signs like lethargy, weight loss, or breathing trouble.  News On 6

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fans gathered at the OU Club of Tulsa on Dec. 19 to cheer the Sooners’ first-ever home playoff game in Norman + the event brought the community together for an exciting watch party.  FOX 23
  • Oklahoma’s season ended after a 34-24 loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff opener on Friday, Dec. 19 at Norman. The Sooners built an early 17-0 lead but costly mistakes and a pick-six reversed their momentum.  News On 6
  • A video review recapped the matchup history between Oklahoma and Alabama (tracing past encounters) ahead of their first-round playoff game. It was released on Dec. 19 (the day before today) to give fans essential background on previous contests.  FOX 23
